Hello anyone interested enough to actually read this. My name is Justin Castro, and I am currently a senior in High School. If you hadn’t guessed by the site title I am fascinated by Psychology, and plan to go into the field as a career. My hobby other than the love of trying to read people and help the depressed is PC gaming. I am a huge fan of video games and play them constantly. In addition to my gaming I’ve taken up role-playing in a DnD style setting. In DnD I have two character personalities I use, and these personalities are attached to a name.
Brinstone is my dark character. He feels that he needs to be the best at his chosen course, no matter the cost. This philosophy causes him to do some evil things in his pursuit of power and prestige. His philosophy also comes with the twisted idea of proving himself to be better than everyone else, this makes him tend to be a bit of a jerk, putting it nicely. Since his chosen course is the pursuit of magic (he only appears in fantasy settings) particularly combative, he typically displays his power by beating others in a showy manner. But he does not like killing people, he will do it without a second thought but he doesn’t do it unless he feels it necessary. The reason behind this is the idea of, power is relative. Being the best at something means you’re better than everyone else, and the more “everyone else” there is, the better you are. You could be the best baseball player your know, but if we put you on the national team you could quickly become the worst, your skills didn’t change only the people surrounding you. So the theory goes that if there is no one else, you’re the best and the worst, the power is now meaningless. So he does not kill people so that they remain to prove how powerful he is just by being around him, and thus less than him. The character though having a twisted way of thinking, has a surprisingly stable mindset and philosophy.
Now I’ve heard a lot of arrangements in the past over how this character can’t work or how he’s not hall he’s cracked up to be, so I’d love to hear back from you guys to talk about the pitfalls of my character and if you guys like how his psyche works.
